2018 ISETS(2018/6/12)

The 8th Annual International Symposium on Energy Technology & Strategy, or ISETS 2018, will be organized and hosted by the Research Center for Energy Technology & Strategy (RCETS) of the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. This year's symposium will be held on the NCKU campus on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

RCETS represents one of the four most prominent research centers at NCKU and is also one of the premier energy research centers in Taiwan. RCETS was established in February 2008 to organize over 200 researchers from 32 energy-related research groups, which represent eight colleges, and 30 departments and institutes at NCKU along with 30 off-campus institutes and companies. RCETS has annually organized and hosted ISETS beginning in the year 2011.

ISETS 2018 will focus on two important energy-related topics, namely the spinnable or rotatable platform and Smart City. The spinnable platform represents an innovative testbed for researching advanced building technologies under real-world conditions including lighting, insulation, HVAC, air quality, noise, and integrated systems. A Smart City integrates different types of electronic data collected from Internet of Things (IoT) devices and advanced sensors and monitors, with information and communication technology (ICT), and Big Data analytic capabilities to address energy, health, safety, security, transportation, building, infrastructure, community service, and overall disaster responsiveness issues. The goal is to increase the resiliency of cities to natural disasters and social, economic, climate-related, environmental, and institutional challenges.

International experts from both Singapore and the U.S. have been invited to share their knowledge and experiences concerning rotatable building testing facilities and the latest Smart City technologies. The overall goal of ISETS 2018 is to establish and strengthen international collaborations, promote interdisciplinary connections, and support exchanges between outstanding researchers and students from other countries and Taiwan.
